Car Rides and Conversations
In the restaurant, they sat opposite each other. Crissie had changed into a red summer dress, and Reece couldnât keep his eyes off her.
âYou look gorgeous,â he remarked as she reached for her glass of wine.
Crissie smiled at him, and he could feel his heart beating faster. He felt like a teenager on a first date when, in reality, they were two adults that barely knew each other, and they werenât even close to being on a date.
The incredible sex they had a few nights ago was still playing on his mind, and he was sure Crissie felt the same way. He wanted desperately to have her again, to taste her, and to feel her warmth envelop him as he thrust into her with devilish intensity. He wasnât expecting her to do anything again, and he was content with the two nights sheâd already given him. And deep down, he knew that regardless of it all, sheâd set the bar very high for every other woman that heâd spend the night with.
âWhy choose this place for a vacay?â Crissie had wanted to ask since he stepped into the bar that fateful day. A man with his type of money could go just about anywhere in the world, and yet he decided on a place in the middle of nowhere.
âItâs peaceful and quiet. Honestly, itâs the only place I can ever come to just escape it all.â And because I had hoped to meet somebody like you, he desperately wanted to add but decided not to.
âI hated spending summers in Texas when I was a kid. Everybody would go to Los Angeles or New York, and Iâd be stuck here.â
Crissie had resorted to small talk or, well, anything that would calm her raging hormones. Reece had insisted that they have dinner at one of the fancier restaurants at the Olive Canyon Inn and had she known heâd wear a button-up and slacks. Sheâd insisted they go to McDonaldâs.
Reece looked absolutely divine in his formal wear. The actual trademark of a businessman with power, and no matter how hard she tried, her mind only wanted one thing tonight. And it was most definitely not on the fancy printed menu.
âNew York isnât that great either.â
Crissie found that extremely hard to believe. She always wanted to visit but never had the opportunity or cash. âWhy?â she asked.
âI never got to see the greatness of it. I went from the womb to work. And that made me into what I am today, so I canât complain too much.â
Crissie ate some of her steak as he spoke. Despite the price of the steak, it was absolutely perfect.
âWhat work do you do?â Crissie loved hearing Reece speak about his work. It gave her an intense amount of joy to see his eyes light up as he spoke.
âI own a business rescue company. If a company starts to deteriorate or go bankrupt, I buy it and essentially save it from closing down.â
A lot made sense to Crissie at that point.
